Old Chamber of Commerce Building

Greenville, SC

Built in 1924, this Beaux Arts style building is a significant asset to the Greenville Main Street Historic District.

The exterior of the building was in need of restoration due to water intrusion, materials distress, an exterior coating that diminished it’s historic character, missing architectural elements and vehicular damage.

Exterior restoration work included, removal of exterior coating; masonry cleaning and restoration; limestone patching; terra cotta profiling and matched glazing; tuckpointing; duplication of missing, custom formed copper emblems; window replacement; protective coatings for existing steel cornice; and installation of a 20’ x 40’ flag. Glass & Concrete Contracting worked with general contractor, Southerland Construction Inc., to complete the full interior and exterior restoration in 2001.

“Glass & Concrete Contracting worked as part of our project team providing accurate historical restorations and waterproofing solutions. From start to completion of the project, Glass & Concrete Contracting was committed to the very highest levels of quality that Southerland Construction Inc. requires while maintaining stringent safety requirements and a tight schedule. We continue to enjoy working with selected companies such as Glass & Concrete Contracting."
